University of West Bohemia

The University of West Bohemia (UWB) was established through the merger of the Institute of Technology and the Faculty of Education. At present the University has 8 faculties with more than 60 departments and three institutes of higher education. Nearly 19,000 students can choose from a wide range of Bachelor, Master and PhD study programs. The section of Geomatics is focused on geodesy, GIS, cadaster and civil law, cartography and spatial planning and provides wide range of study programs.

Research activities in the plan4business project are supported by experiences from projects successfully completed:

  • Plan4all, SDI-EDU for regional and urban planning
  • GPS station – network of permanent GPS stations within Czech Republi
  • Precise models of geoid and quasigeoid in central Europe
  • Georeferencing and cartographic analysis of historical mapping of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia
  • Land data models
  • Progressive collection of geospatial data and its processing
